In danger? If there is danger to life, property or the environment: call 112. Do not wait for an app or a website.
Good to know
-
1177 is a national number for healthcare advice, day and night.
-
Nurses check what care you need, give advice and direct you to a suitable clinic.
-
In a life-threatening situation you must call 112.
-
You can stay on the line without giving your personal identity number.
Three steps to get started
-
Call 112 in a life-threatening situation.
-
Call 1177 for healthcare advice and describe your symptoms.
-
Try to sit calmly and have your list of medicines ready during the advice call.
A practical checklist to try. It does not add any legal requirements.
Important distinctions
Integrera does not assess symptoms and does not replace healthcare staff. 112 also applies to other acute dangers: see Safety and crisis preparedness. Foreign phone numbers may need +46 771-11 77 00 for 1177.

1177 (health advice line), primary care and 112 (emergency)
Where to turn first when you or someone in your family gets sick: 1177, a primary care centre or 112.
1177 (health advice line), primary care and 112 (emergency). Where to turn first when you or someone in your family gets sick: 1177, a primary care centre or 112.Three ways into healthcare
- Call 112 if it is an emergency and someone is in danger of their life, for example with breathing problems, unconsciousness or heavy bleeding.
- Call 1177 for health advice, day and night. A nurse helps you decide where to go.
- Contact a primary care centre for most things that are not urgent, for example infections, pain, long-term illnesses and health checks.
What you can do on 1177.se
On 1177.se you can find health advice and information about illnesses and about which clinics you can contact. When you log in, you can for example read your medical record, see your medicines and prescriptions, and do some healthcare tasks.
To log in you need a Swedish personal identity number and an electronic ID, for example BankID or Freja+ (e-ID apps). If you are 13 or older, you can log in yourself and, for example, book a time or renew a prescription.
Tip: Under “Find care” on 1177.se you can search for primary care centres and other clinics near you, with opening hours and contact details.
Choose and register with a primary care centre
You choose which primary care centre you want to go to. You can also register with a primary care centre. Then you know where to go first, and the staff can get to know you better.
Important: Do not go to the emergency department for problems a primary care centre can handle. The emergency department treats the most seriously ill first, and you may have to wait a long time.
