In danger? If there is danger to life, property or the environment: call 112. Do not wait for an app or a website.
Good to know
-
Professional support can help even someone who copes with a lot on their own.
-
Contact your health centre when how you feel affects everyday life or you need support.
-
1177 can guide you to the right care.
-
If you feel unable to cope, have thoughts of suicide or have made a plan, get help immediately. 1177 says to go to a psychiatric emergency unit or call 112.
Three steps to get started
-
Practise describing what is difficult, for example sleep or worry.
-
Find how to contact your health centre, or call 1177.
-
Seek help immediately in an acute, serious situation, as 1177 advises.
A practical checklist to try. It does not add any legal requirements.
Important distinctions
The source text is for adults over 18. This shows where to get help. It does not diagnose, treat or check your personal risk. Local ways to get care differ.

Routes for adults to mental health support
Where you can turn as an adult when you feel unwell: a primary care centre, 1177, helplines and urgent help.
Routes for adults to mental health support. Where you can turn as an adult when you feel unwell: a primary care centre, 1177, helplines and urgent help.It is common to feel unwell sometimes
Everyone can feel unwell sometimes, for example after a move, a separation or when everyday life is hard. Often it passes. But if you feel unwell for a long time, or if it becomes hard to sleep, work or look after yourself, it is time to seek help.
Here is where you can get help
- A primary care centre is the first step for most people. There you can get an assessment, talks or treatment.
- Call 1177 for advice day and night if you are not sure where to turn.
- Helplines by phone and chat are free, and you can often stay anonymous.
- A psychiatric emergency department for urgent mental health problems.
If it is urgent
Important: If you have thoughts of ending your life, or if someone else is in danger: call 112. You can also call Självmordslinjen (the Suicide Helpline) on 90101 or chat at mind.se, day and night.
You can get an interpreter
It can be hard to talk about feelings in a new language. You have the right to an interpreter in healthcare. Ask for one when you book an appointment.
